Founded in 2000, Ultimate Bet is the home of several big name tournament players including Annie Duke, Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari, and David “Devilfish” Ulliot. Ultimate Bet is considered a leader and top innovator in its field and offers a wide variety of poker games as well as one of the best tournament poker schedules in the business.

Traffic (9): Ultimate Bet is one of the most active poker rooms, averaging 15,426 players at any given time when I was researching it for this review.

Game Selection (10): Game selection is huge at Ultimate Bet and features one of the best tournament schedules around. Plenty of tournaments can be found at buy-ins of all levels as well as World Poker Tour and WSOP qualifiers.

Software Performance (9): Ultimate Bet can be counted on to deliver a smooth and reliable gaming experience. Deals occur quickly, there are rarely and hiccups or freeze ups, and disconnects are virtually non-existent.

Graphics (7): Ultimate Bet offers a 3D view for players in which the user always sits in the 6 o’clock position at the table. This is a nice feature for multi-tablers because it keeps the view consistent for all tables.

The graphics are clean and pleasant to look at, but otherwise unremarkable. Avatars are not available – each player is represented by a name written over an empty chair - but players do have the option of changing the background to reflect different venues, like Aruba, for example.

Game play/interface (5): The Ultimate Bet lobby is both cluttered and hard to read. Newcomers will need time to adjust to it.

Layout of betting buttons and other table information is adequate, but not optimal. A pot amount display option is available to players, but when toggled on, the amount is displayed over the upper left side of the table rather than directly over or under the pot, making it difficult to read.

Users can take and store notes on other players and assign them one of 4 colored buttons as a quick informational reference. Ultimate Bet also offers a function that tracks your statistics by session or over time.

Multi-tablers can use Ultimate Bet’s mini-view option in order to fit more tables on the screen.

Competition (6): Ultimate Bet players tend to be a little more established than at other poker rooms. Play is relatively tight and can be extremely competitive at higher levels, but there are still plenty of easy pickings for the most part.

Rewards/Promotions (7): Ultimate Bet is currently offering a first deposit bonus of 111% up to $1100.

Players also win Ultimate points for raked hands which can be redeemed for money at a rate of $.007 per point. Tournament buy-ins are also credited at a dollar amount equaling about 2% of the buy-in. Ultimate points can be spent on tournament buy-ins, merchandise from the Ultimate Bet store or used to bid on specialized merchandise and/or experiences like a SuperBowl weekend with Phil Hellmuth.
