Texas Holdem Poker Tips for Discipline

I'm glad you found this page because I am not kidding when I say that these texas holdem poker tips will improve your poker game greatly.

I know this from personal experience, that is why I am able to sound so confident talking about these no limit poker tips.

I know discipline can sound daunting and brings back those icky memories but throw them out and replace them with something positive so we can get started.

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.

Discipline Sucks! ... Or Does It?

The mental aspect of poker can determine if you make it or not as a poker player. The best poker players know about it and it doesn't matter if you are the best hand reader and poker strategist in the world.

If you are lacking discipline you will end up losing, I gauarantee that.

Fortunately, like with everything else if you put in some time it is easily avoided.

There are short-term articles with quick advice you can use right now and there are long-term articles with strategic plans for improvement.

One small step at a time.

Looking For A Quick Fix?

You might shudder when you hear the word discipline. Then again, you might not :-)

I myself thought negatively about discipline not long ago. I started seeing pictures of school, teachers and boring crap whenever I thought about it.

You could say that Discipline is a synonym for Challenge.

And in texas holdem poker if you end up having the second best hand and you're lacking discipline, a few things might be happen:

  • You start losing control
  • You start playing bad starting hands
  • Raising too much and in marginal situations when you know better (suited connectors, flush draws in bad spots)
  • Folding too much when you know better
  • Being pissed at everyone you know after a bad poker session

These are a few of the things I notice in myself sometimes. I am by no means a master without emotion but I can say I have improved since I started being serious about my poker game about three years ago.

Often when you run bad and get your pocket aces or pocket queens beat by trash hands you start playing worse, this is what I call tilt.

Skilled gamblers know about tilt and are constantly working at managing and eliminating it, that's how they stay alive for many years.

If you are like most poker players you probably haven't thought about tilt that much when it comes to gambling.

No worries! Now you can read the articles and start learning.

The Bottom Line Is

A skilled gambler has a fair amount of discipline and knows how to use it.

I am by no means saying I am an "expert poker player". What I am saying is that this is how I make my living and I will tell you how I do it :)

You are the expert on you.
