Professional poker players and especially famous poker players are cool to read about. How did these poker playersstart playing. What did they do before they played poker?

Poker Player Profiles

Barry Greenstein

Known as the “Robin Hood of Poker,” Barry Greenstein learned to play poker as a child from his father, and supposedly he was making as much as $30-50 a night at the game when he was 12.

Chip Reese

“Chip” Reese grew up in Centerville, Ohio. During his elementary school years, Reese came down with rheumatic fever and had to stay home for an entire year. During that year, Reese’s mother taught him to play numerous board games and card games, including poker. At six, he could regularly beat fifth-graders at poker.

Dan Harrington

Dan Harrington is a quiet Irishman from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dignified, stately and smart, Harrington is a modern day “Renaissance Man.”

Daniel Negreanu

Canadian Daniel Negreanu seemingly “burst” onto the professional poker scene at a young age, but he has already lived an up and down poker life that has taken him to Vegas and back home, several times over.

Doyle Brunson

Born in Longworth, Texas, Doyle Brunson is arguably the most influential poker player ever to have played the game—BLUFF magazine even said so in their January 2006 issue.

Greg Raymer

Greg Raymer was born in Minot, North Dakota. His father was a serviceman in the Air Force but retired a few months after Greg was born. Raymer’s family moved to Lansing, Michigan, soon after his father’s retirement and lived there until he was eleven. From Michigan, Raymer’s family moved to Clearwater, Florida, and then on to Manchester, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.

Patrik Antonius

Patrik Antonius is a young professional poker player from Helsinki, Finland. Although he has been playing poker since he was eleven, Antonius focused most of his life on becoming a professional tennis player.

Phil Hellmuth

Phil “The Poker Brat” Hellmuth is where ego and talent meet. Incredibly annoying to watch but also incredibly successful in no-limit texas hold'em tournaments.
