How to Beat No-Limit Hold'em 6-max Cash Games Review
I recently got the ebook How to Beat No-Limit Hold'em 6-max Cash Games written by Bill "billyjex" Vosti.
I was already familiar with who he was, he has been around the online poker forums as long as I can remember and he's been a winning poker player all this time.
So when he decided to release a poker ebook I was very interested!
When I was reading about the book I saw that he also included a few bonuses, which was cool.
Usually when people include bonuses with their products the bonuses are pure crap, but Bill has some good bonuses which I enjoyed.
The first bonus pack includes three videos of him playing online poker in real time and discussing the hands as he plays.
The first video didn't really benefit me that much because it was at $0.10/$0.25 NL but the second was at $1/$2 and the third at $3/$6 NL, those last two were great!
For me these videos alone recouped the price of the package, which is $50 at this moment.
He also includes a pre-flop hand chart which will be useful for all you beginners out there or if you just want to have something to remind you that you should be playing tight, solid poker!
Now that we've got that out of the way, let us get to the book and what I thought about it!
The book starts easy and introduces basics of things such as:
- Bankroll management
- Poker software
- How much you can make playing online poker
- Multi-tabling
If you're familiar with my articles you know how much I stress the fundamentals, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that Bill's book didn't neglect those aspects.
He then dives deeper and goes through
- Position
- Pre-flop play
- When to continuation bet
- How to value bet properly
- How to use odds
- How to beat different opponents
- What strategies to use for different limits
It is all well laid out, I would have liked further explanations in some areas, but at 172 pages it is already a hefty book to get through.
When the easier concepts are covered he introduces more advanced concepts like:
- How to read hands and use hand ranges against your opponents
- More advanced concepts on how to use position
- More advanced on how to value bet!
- When to semi-bluff
- How to read board texture
- Think one level above your opponent to crush him!
- Using your image to your advantage
These are the concepts that really helped me skyrocket my own poker game, once you start understanding how to use all of these you'll start to understand what I am talking about!
And finally Bill goes through the advanced concepts of getting tricky, using timing tells and deceiving your opponents with metagame, those are the concepts high-stakes players have mastered and they'll help you win at any lower stakes game if you apply them correctly.
So in summary, would I recommend this book? Definitely!
It is a very well thought out, comprehensive piece of work. If you study the book and Bill's videos and understand the concepts you will no doubt become a winning poker player.
And don't get me wrong, it isn't a walk in the park, but if you put in the work and hours you can succeed, and I honestly believe that, I just don't want you to think it's easy.
Nothing worth doing is easy!
Check out Bill's website for a sneak peak on some of his chapters. Oh and also be sure to check out his screenshots where he shows you he's made over $235,000 in the past two years playing poker online, nice job Bill!
That's all I have to say for now, visit Bill's website for more info!
