A multi-level entertainment brand founded in 1994 by billionaire Calvin Ayre, Bodog’s website is the only place that lets allows Americans wager in its casino (during the time of this review), poker room and sports book all from one account.  Bodog also offers up selections from its music label and downloadable television programs including Mixed Martial Arts fighting.   

Traffic (7):  Bodog averages around 9,000 players and up to more than 16,000 during peak hours.   

Game Selection (8): Sit and Go’s are king at Bodog, with plenty of games available at low to mid-level buy-ins

Software Performance (7):  Bodog’s software is smooth and reliable, but allows players to play no more than 3 tables at once – a limitation that eliminates Bodog as a choice for most multi-tablers. 

Graphics (4):  Bodog’s graphics are among the least realistic of all online card rooms, giving the games a sterile and unappealing feel.  Players do have the option of choosing preset avatars or creating and uploading their own, but the overall look is uninspired. 

Viewpoint is from the top down, with your player always appearing at the 6 o’clock position at the table.  Annoyingly, your own cards are partially covered by an information bar, and your chip count is positioned off to the side rather than under your avatar. 

Game play/interface (7):  The Bodog lobby refreshes frequently and is pleasant to look at, but its filtering system isn’t terribly intuitive. I do like the “quick seat” option - a very handy tool that allows players to jump into the next available game at a designated buy-in. 

At the tables, Bodog offers note taking on your opponents, and a box that displays your personal statistics.  There’s also a searchable database that stores all your hand histories for later review.  Betting is easy, with several options including a slider bar and a box to type your amount into. 

A mini view option allows players to multi-table, but the display doesn’t show you betting amounts for the players in front of you, making it a tool of limited value at best. 

Competition (10):  Sites that are linked to casinos and sports books tend to be the most lucrative for experienced players because a substantial portion of traffic comes from gamblers who wandered into the poker room to goof off or kill some time.  Bodog is no exception to this rule where oose play makes for lots of easy pickings. 

Rewards/Promotions (7):  Bodog rewards new deposits with a 110% bonus up to $500, The first 10% is a straight cash payout redeemable after 30 days.  The rest of the bonus is paid out at a rate of $1 for every 3 Bodog points earned.  You can earn 1 Bodog point for every raked hand played and 3 points for every dollar spent on tournament buy-ins.
