A Story About Me

poker-queensThis website is owned by myself. My name is Henri Junttila and I was born 1986. I currently reside in the northern parts of Sweden. Haparanda, Sweden to be exact.

(The picture was taken in an airport with me being a bit unprepared with my chewing gum and headphones, don't laugh!)

I grew up in Haparanda, a small town with a population of about 11,000. I was lucky to grow up in a stable home with two parents and one older brother.

Both my parents are of Finnish origin so Finnish was the language most spoken in our home, but more often than not I spoke Swedish with my friends.

This was great because it made me fluent in Swedish, Finnish, English and I also speak some Spanish, not much but some ;-)

I had a pretty good childhood, traveling every year to warmer countries with my parents. I wasn't really into traveling a lot when I was a child but I guess you learn to enjoy these things later in life, atleast I did.

I went through school, and the last three years of school I studied something relating to Computer Science but the reason I chose it was because I already knew most of what they were teaching so that enabled me the lazy mans path through the last years of school.

My Last Year in School I Found Poker

I found poker the summer prior to my last year of school. I was working a summer job that paid like most summer jobs do, very low wage.

I had a friend who had made $1,000 at poker so I asked myself

"It shouldn't be that hard?".

A long story short, I tried it, read one book and concluded it was all luck.

The game of poker was impossible to beat!

I never stopped trying, there was a massive amount of frustration but I never gave up and the last 6 months of school I realized I could play texas holdem for a living, so I did.

My Future Plans Changed

I decided not to study at a university.

When I got out of school I had already made over $100,000.

I decided to move to Spain temporarily and live with my brother.

It lasted about 8 months before I finally broke down and realized how awesome my home country and the whole of scandinavia was.

It was a great experience, to live in a new place and break old patterns.

After I had been home for the summer I got an impulse to travel again. This time Thailand was the victim and I went there with a bunch of my friends.

How Did I Come Up with the Idea of This Site?

The idea jumped at me like a crazy monkey just before my Thailand trip. It came to my mind that there really were no excellent poker resources out there that weren't charging money.

And something else was missing...

  • Game Selection

There wasn't enough material written about these three pillars of poker.

And these were the areas of my poker game which I thought I was strongest in and that I thought were at least as important as knowing poker strategy.

The Purpose

The purpose for my site is to focus on helping beginning players and beginning intermediates and provide you with fast support, fast help and great quality in the information I am providing you.

There are not many sites that seek to provide what I do. Atleast none that I have seen. I will be here answering emails and forum questions as fast as I can and I am looking forward to getting feedback on how I can improve this site, what new material I can add to it to most efficiently be able to help you!
